Can't say that he say he wasn't asked nicely when at last he gets on the high seas the mist looks pissed and the waves have fists so he goes to, the pits of the ship below the commotion of the ocean he falls into a coma so deep that he dreams he's asleep 'til a sailor speaks unto him when woken, hey Jonah, a lot's been tossed in your corner. CHORUS Verse 2 The sailors start off guess you brought this wash tell me what's your job and people I worship G-d and drew an awful lot, in addition dog I'm a Hebrew the sea crew said its so nice meet you tell your god its odd but the waves won't cave and if there was another way that's what we'd do Jonah said I don't need to, tell him yourself he can see you. G-d said "please to meet you." pause and the kids on the ship could have bit both lips 'til their teeth do bleed through, even that wouldn't stop every jaw from their drop. Even Jonah was shocked like me too as he dropped in the sea like 'see you.' CHORUS Verse 3 "wait, yo!" he fell there from the sailboat no inner tube just his halo so gd sent him a whaleboat, not safe though in the belly of the deep in the belly of the beast so he eats. spread the jelly fish feet and the peanut butter blubber add a leech, its a feast! At least at last this disease has past Thank G-d I'm alive, thank G-d I'm alive, I can see your holy temple while I'm deep inside I can see you Holy Temple cause now I'm in the skies. and I've landed, off to Nineveh to the frantic to do as I'm commanded a venohafochu to the stranded imagine, what happened, can't even relax with a plant man! Echoes of a Shofar
    (Video Rated 3 Stars)
    Artist:
    Description:
"Echoes of a Shofar" is the premiere episode in the "Eyewitness 1948" short film series produced by Toldot Yisrael and the History Channel. It is the centerpiece of an educational pilot program being developed with The iCenter and made possible through the generous support of the Jim Joseph Foundation. Under a British law in Palestine passed in 1930, Jews were forbidden to blow the shofar at the Kotel, pray loudly there, or bring Torah scrolls, so as not to offend the Arab population. Despite this restriction, for the next seventeen years, the shofar was sounded at the Kotel every Yom Kippur. Shofars were smuggled in to the Kotel where brave teenagers defiantly blew them at the conclusion of the fast. Some managed to get away - others were captured and sent to jail for up to six months. Six of these men are still alive. Two weeks ago, these six men returned to the scene of their "crime". Armed with shofars, they recounted their individual stories and blew shofar again at the Kotel. This is their powerful and inspiring story.

    Soul Bigger

Follow us on Twitter! http://twitter.com/JewishTweets Visit our Facebook Page! http://facebook.com/JewishTreats A Project of the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) http://njop.org Written and Directed by Brian Golub and Mike Kirsch of Unique New York Entertainment http://uniquenewyorkentertainment.com Choreographed by Mike Kirsch Learn more about the 3 T's of the High Holidays, Teshuva (Repentance), Tefilah (Prayer) and Tzedaka (Charity), with this post taken from our http://JewishTreats.org blog: The 3 Ts On Rosh Hashanah we declare: "But repentance, prayer and charity remove the evil of the decree!" In Hebrew, these constitute the 3 Ts: Teshuva, Tefilah and Tzedaka. Teshuva (repentance) a central theme of the High Holidays, means more than just saying "sorry." Teshuva, means recognizing one's errors and making an effort not to repeat them. In many ways, teshuva is a private act because one must be introspective to recognize one's own mistakes. Tefilah (prayer) is the acknowledgment of God as the King and Ruler of the universe. Tefilah is almost private, but not quite. It is a conversation between the person and God. Tzedaka (charity) is a critical step necessary to reverse an evil decree simply because it constitutes an action. The performance of this mitzvah affects the person giving, the person receiving, and its benefits often extend to others as well. Tzedaka is reaching out beyond one's self, and is thus a public act. Everything that a person does affects the world in multiple ways. It affects the person's relationship with him/herself, their relationship with the Divine and their relationship with their fellow human beings. The path to reversing the evil of the decree must therefore involve the private, the spiritual and the public spheres of our lives. Obama:Reject Prejudice, Violence, On Rosh Hashanah
    (Video Rated 3 Stars)
    Artist:
    Description:
Great hook for teaching students proper Rosh Hashanah greetings! Text of Video: At sundown this Friday night, the Jewish community here in the United States and all over the world will celebrate the start of the new year. Rosh Hashanah, literally "head of the year," marks not only a time of prayer and self-reflection, but also a time of celebration, rejuvenation and hopefulness for the days and year to come. For many, the sounds of the shofar serve as an emotional high point during the period leading up to and during the High Holy Days. The sounds emanating from the rams horn awaken our spirits and compel the listener to repentance and to action. In the first Presidential video message for the High Holy Days, President Obama describes how: "[T]his sacred time provides not just an opportunity for individual renewal and reconciliation, but for families, communities and even nations to heal old divisions, seek new understandings, and come together to build a better world for our children and grandchildren. "At the dawn of this New Year, let us rededicate ourselves to that work. Let us reject the impulse to harden ourselves to others suffering, and instead make a habit of empathy of recognizing ourselves in each other and extending our compassion to those in need. "Let us resist prejudice, intolerance, and indifference in whatever forms they may take -- let us stand up strongly to the scourge of anti-Semitism, which is still prevalent in far too many corners of our world. "Let us work to extend the rights and freedoms so many of us enjoy to all the worlds citizens to speak and worship freely; to live free from violence and oppression; to make of our lives what we will."

Moishe Oysher sings "Kol Nidre" - 1939 Yiddish film
    (Video Rated 3 Stars)
    Artist:
    Description:
From the 1939 Yiddish film "Overture To Glory" (Der Vilner Shtot Khazn "The Vilnius City Cantor"). Questionably described by Hal Erikson in his "All Movie Guide" as "one of the last Yiddish-language films produced in the United States" (and the first American film of German director Max Nosseck) Overture to Glory stars the great musical performer and Cantor, Moishe Oysher. Starring Helen Beverly and Florence Weiss (Oysher's wife), with a musical score by Alexander Oshanetsky, Oysher is the "Vilner Balabesl", a cantor in Vilnius, with a renowned voice. Two men come from the Warsaw Opera to hear him sing in the Rosh Hashanah service and are so impressed that they introduce him to European classical music and to reading sheet music; they convince him, against the wishes of much of his family (and especially his father-in-law) to become an opera singer in Warsaw. He leaves his job as the Vilnius cantor, and seems at first to be on the path to fame and fortune as an opera star in Warsaw, when the news arrives that his son has died. Grief-stricken, he stumbles over the aria he is supposed to sing, starting instead into a lullaby he used to sing to his son. In disgrace, he also loses his voice; he tries to return to his life in Vilna; finally, his voice comes briefly back to him on Yom Kippur. He sings the first few lines of the "Kol Nidre", then dies of a heart attack. Reviews: "...one of the major events of the Jewish cinema... Moishe Oysher's voice is truly magnificent...." The New York Post "The entire film is done with exquisite restraint... Moishe Oysher's acting and singing are excellent... the music is magnificent, the finest that Alexander Olshanetsky has ever written... truly an artstic and beautiful triumph of the Yiddish cinema...." William Edline, The Day (Der Tag) "Seldom has the Jewish faith been more nobly and beautifully espoused as it is in this film.... A milestone in the course of Yiddish film making." Robert W. Dana, The New York Herald Tribune.
